HTC is planning to house its HTC mobiles with Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system. There are total 15 gadgets in the catalog of HTC mobiles, which the company plans to upgrade with Android 4.0 ICS operating system including HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Sensation 4G, HTC Raider, HTC Rezound, HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Vivid. Some of the gadgets have already received there updates like HTC Vivid, Amaze 4G and Sensation 4G. Whereas HTC is still not sure of upgrading HTC DROID Incredible 2 with Android 4.0 ICS operating system. The final call on HTC DROID Incredible 2 will be taken by the end of August, 2012. HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Desire HD, HTC Rhyme, HTC Rezound and some other gadgets also will be upgraded in the month of July and August. It can be easily judged from the list that most of the gadgets that were launched last year will be or have been upgraded.

Now the major question which crop up in mind is, what change new ICS operating system would bring in comparison to older gingerbread OS. With the help of ICS operating system, the user can access notification bar on the lock screen also, which was not possible with the gingerbread OS in the mobile. With Gingerbread OS, the phone can take only two to three sentences at a time, which have to be kept activating if dictating a long message whereas ICS operating system is more advanced. It is more robust and can be used to dictate an entire email and it is quite smart enough to recognize pauses, breaks and punctuation. With Gingerbread operating system, the user can only see last 8 apps whereas in ICS OS, the user can see all his recent apps. With the help of Ice cream sandwich operating system, many applications get improved and Gmail is one of the examples. With ICS, the user can swipe left or right to get to the older or new message.
According to the HTC Mobile reviews, there are some gadgets, which will not be upgraded with Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich OS like HTC ChaCha, HTC Wildfire S, HTC Salsa, HTC Explorer etc. It can be concluded by saying that this is smart move from HTC by upgrading its gadgets with ICS operating system. ICS update in HTC mobiles can take the sales of HTC mobiles to a new height. Well, time will tell about the impact created by HTC on mobile market and customers.
