Most popular MicroBlogging website Twitter is Continuously Hitting 1 Billion Tweets per month.

According to Pingdom, Twitter hits 1.2 billion tweets in January 2010.Which means , average 40 million tweets per day.This is a tremendous increment in Twitter activity  when compared to past few months.

Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter also tweeted about this enormous increment in Twitter usage on January 12:

Across all metrics that matter, yesterday was Twitter’s highest-usage day ever. (And today will be bigger.)

GROWTH OF TWITTER

2009 is the best year for Twitter.Because in that year only twitter unleashed it’s power.It grabed the millions of users.Here is a chart about the Tweets per month from July 2008 to Jan 2010.

  1. December 2009 was the first month Twitter processed more than one billion tweets (with 1.036 billion tweets).
  2. January 2010 had 16 times as many tweets as January 2009.
  3. The activity on Twitter has doubled since August 2009.
  4. January 2010 saw more tweets per day (39.5 million) than the whole of September 2008.

From last 3 months, twitter getting a growth of 17%(Nov-16.8%,Dec:16.6%, Jan: 16.9%).
If it continuous like this, twitter will get 1.4 billion tweets this February and goes on.
